Cross-country Skiing and Snowshoeing

If you like to cross-country ski or showshoe, this is the place.  We have several cross-country and snowshoe trails. Visit our maps page. 

Ice Age Trail

Cross Country Ski Trails

Trade River Trail Frederic

8km of trail groomed for classical and skating.  Easy rolling trails.

Coon Lake Trail Frederic

5.3 km groomed for skating and classical with segments of easy and Intermediate difficulty and one series of steep, more difficult loops.

Balsam Branch Amery

11km of trails groomed for classical and skating.

Interstate Park St. Croix Falls

Six trails mostly beginner to intermediate, 1.6 to 4.8 km.

Trollhaugen Dresser

2.5 km classic and skating on man-made snow.  Great early season option.


Snowshoe Trails

Somers Lake Trail Frederic

Located 3 miles east of Frederic at Somers Lake County Park.  A series of 3 wooded loops totaling almost five miles.

Interstate Park St. Croix Falls Snowshoeing in the State Park.

Polk County is home to over 350 miles of groomed snowmobile trails ranging from remote trails to the Gandy Dancer Trail. Enjoy the hospitality of the communities and businesses along the way; most provide lodging, dining, fuel and other necessities for your snowmobiling pleasure.
