Stower Seven Lakes State Trail
This county-operated, 14-mile trail runs from Amery nearly all the way to Dresser. Built on a former railroad track, the trail begins west of Highway 46 at Harriman Avenue in Amery, travels through Deronda, Wanderoos and Nye, ending about one mile from Dresser on 90th Avenue. From Dresser, you can take County Highway F, turn south on County Highway MM and then east on 90th Avenue. The trail starts near Lotus Lake.
The trail is named after Amery’s own Harvey and Marilyn Stower. Harvey Stower served in the Wisconsin Legislature and as Mayor of Amery for many years. The trail has fantastic natural beauty and wildlife as it passes by the seven lakes of Lotus Lake, Horse Lake, Round Lake, Big Lake, Kinney Lake, North Twin Lake, and South Twin Lake.
The trail is fairly level grade with a limestone surface. It is suitable for bicyclists, walkers, and joggers. The smooth limestone surface makes most of this trail accessible to wheelchair users. Trail passes for biking are required for all persons 16 years and older. In the winter months, the trail is open to cross-country skiing and showshoeing. The trail is not groomed.
ATVs, snowmobiles and other motorized vehicles are prohibited on the Stower Seven Lakes State Trail.
